GBay Bass Classic - Official Rules & Regulations
1. Tournament Format
This is a team bass fishing tournament.
Maximum of four (4) anglers per boat. Fewer anglers per boat are permitted.
Eligible species: Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass only.
Tournament format: Livewell, weigh-in event.
All fish must be caught rod and reel only.
Artificial lures only (no live or prepared bait).
2. Tournament Waters
Tournament waters will be Georgian Bay.
No fishing in marinas, canals, or posted no-fishing zones.
Anglers must obey all local, provincial, and federal regulations.
3. Boat & Safety Requirements
All boats must be safe, water-worthy, and legally registered.
Boats must be rated to safely carry the number of occupants on board, up to the tournament maximum of four (4) anglers.
All occupants must have a properly fitting life jacket (PFD).
PFDs must be worn and properly fastened while the combustion engine is running.
Each boat must carry required safety equipment as per law.
Engine kill switch must be attached when the main engine is in use.
Tournament officials may deny participation to any boat deemed unsafe or overloaded.
4. Fishing Hours
Official fishing hours will be 8:00am to 4:00pm
No fishing before the official start time.
All boats must check in by the designated check-in deadline - 4:00PM
Late check-in penalties:
Every minute late: .5 penalty
More than 5 minutes late: disqualification
5. Fish Limits & Scoring
Daily limit: 5 bass per boat, regardless of the number of anglers on board.
Only the largest 5 bass will be weighed.
Scoring is based on total weight.
In case of a tie:
Largest single fish (2 attempts by each boat)
If that still is a tie, a coin toss will be done.
6. Livewell & Fish Care
Fish must be kept in a functioning livewell with adequate aeration.
Fish showing signs of poor condition may be penalized or rejected at weigh-in.
Dead fish penalty: 1 lb per dead fish.
Tournament officials reserve the right to refuse fish deemed unfit.
7. Sportsmanship & Conduct
Good sportsmanship is mandatory for all anglers and passengers.
No crowding, cutting off, or interfering with other boats.
Maintain a safe distance from other competitors.
No consumption of alcohol or illegal substances during tournament hours.
Any unsportsmanlike conduct by any person on the boat may result in penalties or disqualification.
8. Assistance & Information
No outside assistance is permitted during tournament hours.
Anglers may not receive fishing information from non-participants.
Emergency assistance is allowed and must be reported to officials.
9. Tackle & Equipment
Rods and reels only.
Multiple rods allowed.
No trolling with combustion engine.
Electronics are permitted (GPS, sonar, forward-facing sonar unless otherwise stated).
10. Weather & Safety Delays
The tournament will proceed rain or shine unless deemed unsafe.
Tournament officials may delay, shorten, or cancel the event due to weather.
Safety decisions made by officials are final.
11. Decisions
Any issue must be submitted within 24 hours of weigh-in completion.
Tournament officials’ decisions are final.
12. Liability & Release
All participants fish at their own risk.
By entering, all anglers and passengers release the tournament organizers, sponsors, and volunteers from any liability.
This is a charity event, and respectful conduct is expected at all times.
13. Rule Interpretation
Tournament officials have the final authority on rule interpretation.
Any situation not covered by these rules will be decided in the spirit of fair competition and fish conservation.
